Contents Thomas of Cantipré (1201 - 1272?) was Flemish Dominican friar, preacher and theologian. In this moral and allegorical work, composed in the middle of the 13th century, he takes bees as a positive example of industry and as a term of comparison for the correct functioning of religious hierarchies and the appropriate behaviour of the wider Christian community.
